I enjoy working with people to help them learn about working with clay.  Please contact me if you are interested in Private/Semi-Private lessons to focus on area of interest. If you have a group of people that would like to have a class or workshop we can coordinate this too.  I’m mobile too, so workshops can be at my studio or at your studio/home.

Annmarie Gardens, Dowell, MD

Beginning Wheel
2/3/20 – 12/16/20 – 6-9pm

Learn to use the potter’s wheel to create cups, bowls, and vases. no experience necessary. Beginners will focus on learning fundamental skills. More experienced students will focus on specific forms of interest and refine techniques.
This series includes 6 instructor-led classes one open studio session, and additional open studio time as desired. Class includes 25 lbs of clay and use of studio equipment and glazes. Additional clay available for purchase if needed.

Beginner/Advanced Wheel – Daytime
2/6/20 – 3/19/20 – 1-4pm

This series is for students of all levels. Beginners will learn the foundation skills required to use the potter’s wheel. More advanced students will hone fundamental skills and explore more complex forms and techniques.

This series includes 6 instructor-led classes one open studio session, and additional open studio time as desired. Class includes 25 lbs of clay and use of studio equipment and glazes. Additional clay available for purchase if needed.

Intermediate/Advanced Wheel – Evening
2/6/20 – 3/19/20 – 6-9pm

This series is for students with basic wheel-throwing skills who desire to hone fundamental skills and explore more complex forms and techniques.

This series includes 6 instructor-led classes one open studio session, and additional open studio time as desired. Class includes 25 lbs of clay and use of studio equipment and glazes. Additional clay available for purchase if needed.

Handbuilding
Cups and Bowls
04/01/20 – 6-9pm
04/08/20 – 6-8pm

Designed for people who have an interest working with clay, Hand Building class will give you an experience in making functional pottery. Learn and use basic ceramic hand building techniques to create 2 cups and 2 bowls. During the second class session, you will learn about ceramic glazes, glaze application techniques and glaze your cups and bowls. All materials, tools and firing included in the cost of the class. Class size is limited to provide individual attention so register early.

Plates and Platters
04/15/20 – 6-9pm
04/22/20 – 6-8pm

Intro to Alternative Firing: Ray will guide you through the process of preparing and firing your bisque ware in pits and traditional raku. Bring three (3) bisque pieces for pit firing and two (2) bisque pieces for Raku. Limit 12 participants. Materials fee: $45. PM Session.  Preparation Guide is provided prior to conference to registered participants.

Naked Raku: Ray will guide you through the process of glazing and firing your bisque ware naked-raku style, a technique that allows you to remove the glaze at the end, leaving a beautifully patterned piece. Bring three (3) bisque pieces made of Raku clay. Limit 8 participants per session. Materials fee: $45. PM Session.  Preparation Guide is provided prior to conference to registered participants.
